As part of the OU Robotics Outreach Group activities for Science Week, 2005, we encouraged a wide variety of groups around the UK to run a Wicked Robots Junk Modelling Activity. The activity is ideal for use in schools or community venues, and ties in to a wide range of recycling and robotic activites.

To make things even easier for the activity organisers, we produced a poster that sets the scene to help groups advertise their event.

Groups were encouraged to upload photos of their JunkRobots and a few lucky winners received some wicked prizes for themselves (kindly donated by 20th Century Fox), along with an OU Wicked Waste Study Pack for their school If you want to see whether there were any Junk Robot activities new you, check out our Robot Invasion Map.

Although the competition is now closed, the gallery is still open, and will remain so for the foreseeable future. (We hope to run another competition in the Autumn, to co-incide with Family Learning Week in October, so keep checking out these pages for more details.)

So, if you have got a photograph of a junk robot then why not visit the Wicked Robots photo upload area and post it to our gallery?

If you'd like to see the range of Junk Robots our intrepid designers came up with, then check out the Wicked Robots photo gallery.

Some junk... ...the Wicked robots poster... ...and hey presto, a junkrobot!

If you'd like to run your own Junk Robot event, but can't find enough junk to run it yourself, try your local scrapstore, who will be able to provide you with all the junk you need!

If you do run a Wicked robots Junk Modelling event, we'd love to see what sort of robots you come up with. So why not upload a photograph of your robot to our online gallery?

And finally, if you want to use the Wicked Robots JunkRobotics challenge as part of a "robot and waste" themed carousel event that mixes hands-on fun with online/IT activities and a few resourceless robotics games, why not run a Wicked Robots carousel event?

Or how about doing some real robotics? If you've got some Lego Mindstorms gathering dust, get it out of the cupboord, dust it off and try running a robot fashion show or taking up one of the three RoboCupJunior Challenges:robot dance, robot rescue or robot football.
